I started training with Melanie at Vigour in February this year after suffering back, neck and shoulder pains for most of my life (a consequence of scoliosis caused by one leg being shorter than the other).  Although I see a very good chiropractor he was unable to treat me fully for chronic neck pain which I developed whilst I was overseas last year.   I also suffered from bursitis of the hip caused by an injury several years ago. I felt that I really needed to strengthen my back rather than going to the chiropractor every month for the rest of my life!  I was seeking something that would help me to strengthen my back and improve my posture so Melanie advised I do both pilates and strength training every week  - so far I have been doing this for almost 9 months.

At my most recent visit to the chiropractor he told me my body was as if 10 years younger, and that my back, finally, was ‘almost like a normal person’s’.  This amazing recovery is solely due to the work I have done with Melanie and Rowan doing pilates and strength training.  I no longer have the chronic neck pain, my hip bursitis is much reduced and my lower back lets me do things I could not have done without suffering severe pain and needing treatment at the chiropractor’s.  In all I am much stronger, fitter and as an added bonus have lost weight too and am fitting back into pre-baby clothes.

Hi my name’s Dianne and I’ve been training with Vigour personal training since February 2011.
I enjoy attending the classes as Mel and Rowan are encouraging, helpful, patient and they always inject fun and variety into each class.
I feel focused, more food conscious and motivated since beginning training in a friendly and happy environment where you don’t feel so self conscious.

Since joining Vigour Personal Training, I have changed. My fitness is up and I am able to run more laps of the netball court than these past couple of years and am loving it! I have learnt really valuable lessons, that training with other groups, individuals and sporting teams haven't been able to bring to my attention.

Diet: I have learnt to prepare and cook simple nutritious foods in a warm environment. With these simple cooking tips I am now able to maintain a healthy diet, I have also learnt about safety in the kitchen, and been let-in-on chef secrets that have saved a lot of time when preparing a meal. My deadly sugar addictions, and other poor dietary habits have also been eliminated.

Exercise: Each session with my Personal Trainer is tailored to my own specific needs. I have found with other, more known Personal Training companies that you are a number in a gym. These other companies don't always pay much attention to each personal need of their clients, rather just what they think you should work on instead of what you would like to improve on.

Vigour Personal Training combines their knowledge of exercise, food and own methods of training with the specific needs of each client. Working closely with a trainer in a friendly environment has definitely been the way for me to achieve the highest results possible and with such close supervision perform the exercises correctly. With intensity increasing over the weeks, I am sure to achieve the goals I have set.

All in all it has been a great couple of months! Finally getting my New Year's Resolution for the past 4 years underway, year 2011 is the year!!

I have been training with Mel and Rowan for 5 months. I participate in the GTS training, I have weak knees and have struggled with them since participating in a half marathon. Training with Mel and Rowan I have become stronger and am able to run again. I enjoy the sessions, they are well structured, intense and the small classes give a real personalised touch. I have really enjoyed my personal training sessions with Rowan, I feel I have grown as a person and he has helped me in my journey of strength, health and general well being. I find I have a lot more energy and I am never as tired as I used to be and I am generally a happier person.

Rowan is a really fun trainer and I enjoy that I am always being challenged and every session is different, never boring. I feel I can trust Rowan and he is always looking out for my wellbeing and safety. At present Rowan is helping me to jog as this is one of my goals and I feel without his help and encouragement I wouldn't have made the progress I have today.

I enjoy training with Melanie and Rowan because they work with you, building on your strengths and confidence and at the same time encouraging and motivating you not only to improve but also to move out of your comfort zone. When asking you to try something new, the emphasis is on doing the exercise correctly, not on how many time you can do it.

I enjoy training sessions because they are small groups. Training sessions are tailored to the group, allowing all to achieve their goals. At the same it means that Melanie and Rowan are able to assist individuals who are struggling.

I have a degenerative back problem, thanks to the training with Melanie and Rowan, I have been able to avoid an operation and to remain active and fit so that I can keep up with my grandson and enjoy holidaying overseas.

I have been training with VigourPT for the past 3 months and the experience really has exceeded my expectations! Melanie and Rowan are fantastic and totally committed to helping their Clients get results.

They create a challenging, supportive and fun environment. No two sessions are the same which keeps it interesting. Training in small groups means you get constant guidance and feedback on your technique and progress, and the sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs and level of the individuals in the group.

I have been to other gyms in the past and VigourPT is the best by far!

I started training with VigourPT because I was in a bad stage in my life and needed something to get me through. In my time of training I have lost weight and toned up my body. These results have helped me feel better about myself and has given me the willpower to want to live a healthier lifestyle.

Mel has supported and encouraged me the whole way through and thanks to her tough love I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm very excited because I can now wear all my clothes that I grew out of when I put on all my weight and feel good wearing them.

Thanks Mel for all of your awesome support and tough love - it has given me a new strength to be a new healthier me :-)

After recent surgery to repair a broken leg and replace an existing hip prosthesis, I was aware of needing regular assistance to maintain the strength of my good leg and to build up upper body strength to assist my mobility on strollers and crutches.

A mutual friend introduced me to Mel of Vigour PT, who discussed my concerns, the outcomes I sought and who promptly set up a program of exercises to be conducted under her supervision, to set about achieving our agreed goals. Her approach had the flexibility to match and push my progress and to move me beyond my comfort zone.

This has achieved results beyond my expectations and yet the process has been fun, intensive and personal. While I have not yet achieved my goals, I recognize that they no longer represent the end game, but rather the next milestone on my road to good health. Thanks a lot Mel.
